We can all feel a little lost at times, sometimes, it can be extremely challenging to find a sense of purpose and direction when life' challenges us. . Being amongst nature can prove to have substantial benefits to our health and wellness.

Nature is an essential aspect of human existence, and its benefits are profound. As humans, we have an innate connection with nature that can profoundly impact our mental health and wellbeing. In recent years, there has been a growing body of research on the relationship between nature and mental health, highlighting the importance of spending time outdoors.

The impact of nature on our health is multi-layered. Exposure to nature can improve mood, reduce stress and anxiety, and promote a real sense of well-being. Spending time in natural environments can also help individuals feel more connected to their surroundings, creating a sense of belonging and promoting feelings of grounding and connection to other life aside from your own.

Nature has the ability to provide a sense of calm and relaxation that is difficult to find in urban environments. Research has shown that exposure to nature can lower cortisol levels, a hormone associated with stress.

Spending time safely in nature can also improve cognitive functioning, leading to increased focus and attention. Solo hiking, swimming, paddling on the sea is one of the best feelings, from someone who adores this freedom and independence and joy myself, it is also advisable that you check-in with others and yourself before wandering into the forests or open waters. Safety first!!

Studies have found that people who spend time in natural environments report higher levels of happiness and positivity.

Exposure to natural light is proven to help regulate sleep patterns, which can in turn improve mood and overall well-being. This is true for children and adults of almost all cognitive, neurodiverse, mental and physical ability with adaptations needed for some.

Nature has the ability to encourage physical positive wellness by providing opportunities for physical activity. Outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, cycling and gardening can promote physical health, which in turn can improve mental health.

We are aware exercise is proven to be an effective treatment for depression and anxiety, and spending time outdoors can help individuals get the exercise they need to maintain good mental health. On that note we should be sensitive to others who struggle to be in SOME natural environments, nature in its own words must feel natural and not forced!

Finally, nature can promote a sense of connection to the world around us, feeling more connected to our environment, which can solidify those feelings of belonging and purpose, something that is important for our for mental health as individuals and society as a whole.

So, if you're feeling a little lost or like you've hit a brick wall in managing day to day life, aside from seeking additional support if need be, try spending some time in nature. Whether it's going for a walk, hiking, or simply sitting outside and touching flowers, plants and rocks.

Nature really can help you feel more relaxed and connected to the world around you.

Take Care of you
